 The 2023  Arizona History Convention will be held online April 13 and 14 and  in-person on Saturday, April 15, at the Tempe Community Center, located  on the southwest corner of Rural and Southern roads in Tempe, Arizona.  


K-12 teachers may receive professional development credit for attending  the convention. After its conclusion on April 15, please notify us that  you would like to receive the credit by emailing us at info@arizonahistory.org and we will verify your attendance and issue an certificate to you. All presentations are peer reviewed.


Featured speakers will include: 

Shelly  Lowe, chair of the National Endowment for the Humanities and citizen of  the Navajo Nation, will be giving the keynote address. 


Dr.  Maurice Crandall, Arizona State University and a citizen of the  Yavapai-Apache Nation of Camp Verde, will give the plenary speech,  titled, “Voices from the Past, Lessons for the Future: Indigenous Arizona.” His talk is sponsored by ASU’s School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies. 


There will be 30 sessions, half online and half in-person, featuring nearly 100 presenters speaking on a wide range of topics. Scholars from universities in Arizona, Oklahoma, Tennessee, California, and New York, as well as local avocational historians will be presenting their latest findings on a wide range of subjects.

Conference Registration

Ticket sales for the conference will go live by February 1st, 2023. We will post the link here. B All tickets for meals must be purchased no later than April 7th. No refunds are available after April 6th and seating is limited for the banquet.

Fate Brewing Co. is located approximately one-half mile west of the Tempe Community Center, on the south side of Southern Avenue. Overflow parking is available after 5pm in the U.S. Post Office lot directly east of the restaurant. The Awards Dinner event will take place upstairs in the Loft, with access by interior stairs or exterior elevator.

The buffet will cost $40 and will include appetizers, salad, two entrees, side dishes, and dessert, with plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options. Soft drinks, iced tea, and lemonade are included. There will

be a no-host bar with a wide selection of beers from Fate Brewing Co., as well as a selection of wine and cocktails. Seating is limited.
